Doctor Who: The Day Of The Doctor Watched By Over 10 Million UK TV Viewers



The Doctor Who 50th Anniversary episode, The Day Of The Doctor, was watched by 10.18 million TV viewers last night, a 37.4% share of the audience. At its peak it was watched by 10.61m (41.2%). The 75 minute special which starred David Tennant, Matt Smith and Billie Piper was beaten only in the UK ratings for the day by Strictly Come Dancing which preceded it and pulled in 10.56 million (43.7%).

The Day Of The Doctor was in direct competition with The X Factor, which could only manage 7.67 million (28.6%).

The Doctor Who special was also screened in 3D in cinemas across the country. Excited fans started queuing from the afternoon and many cinemas ran multiple screens to accommodate demand.
