New ITV1 Police Drama, Broadchurch, For David Tennant - Update

The Sun are reporting that David Tennant has landed a new ITV1 gritty police drama series inspired by the cult Danish crime show The Killing.
The as yet un-named show is to be made by Kudos (Spooks and Hustle) and will see David’s character solve crimes his colleagues cannot crack.
The show is said to have a £1 million budget and will go in to production later this year. It is expected to air on ITV1 in January 2013.
A source said:
“This is not just another detective show with a quirky sleuth. There is more to it. It will be in the same vein as The Killing in that it will be suspenseful — just when you think you know what’s going on, David’s character will turn the whole thing on its head.
“It’s a challenging role but one he is relishing.”

Update:
It has since been revealed via James Strong's CV at United Agents that the the show is to be called Broadchurch and it will be an 8-part series
Written by Chris Chibnall, produced by Richard Stokes and directed by James Strong.
David Tennant previously worked with Chris Chibnall and James Strong on United and Doctor Who.
The show will be filmed in Bristol.
